DAY BY DAY

  • Day 01: Arrival at the airport of Lisbon and transfer to our hotel in the city centre. We will begin our holiday in Portugal with a panoramic view of the city on the banks of the River Tagus. At night, we will enjoy the varied Portuguese gastronomy while listening to the melancholy of a Fado music show.

  • Day 02: A local guide will show us all the sights of Lisbon. We will visit the quarter of Alfama and A Sé (the Cathedral of Lisbon) and walk up to the gardens of the Castle of San Jorge, from where we can enjoy beautiful views of the city. We will walk around the quarter of Chiado and visit plazas such as that of El Comercio and the ruins of the ‘Convento do Carmo’. We will also be able to travel on the trams and see many other places in the city.

  • Day 03: We leave Lisbon and travel along the coast. We are heading for a route around the small town of Cascais and the luxurious Estoril. Our next destination is the whimsical location of Sintra on the top of a mountain. We then travel north and visit the mediaeval town of Óbidos. From here, we carry on to Coimbra and can decide whether or not to visit the Shrine of Fatima on the way.

  • Day 04: Coimbra is a historical city and we will visit it on foot. It has one of the most renowned universities in Portugal and a network of streets that run down to the River Mondego. From here, we travel to the neighbouring Coninbriga to admire the Roman mosaics. We set off for the city of Porto. Here, we stay next to the River Duero and then walk along the banks of the River to the restaurant, where we will enjoy local specialities with the city of Porto spread out before us.

  • Day 05: Today, we have an interesting itinerary based on pre-Roman settlements, shrines and mediaeval towns. We begin our experience at the mediaeval town of Guimaraes, which was Portugal’s first capital. Nearby is the Citania de Briteiros, where we will enjoy a walk around the refurbished homes of the pre-Roman villages. We then travel to the baroque city of Braga and its Shrine of Bom Jesus. From here, we make our way back to Porto.

  • Day 06: We spend the entire day going up the River Douro, discovering its riverside landscapes. We will travel on different means of transport and, in particular, sail along the River Douro. We will visit a ‘quinta’, taste the local wine and enjoy a walk around the vineyards. We will enjoy a special lunch with views of the river and visit the Palace of Mateus. We will also cross the region of Tras os Montes before returning to Porto.

  • Day 07: After breakfast, we travel to the airport of Porto and that marks the end of our services.
